Hi, my name's Shiela, I,m 53 and was diagnosed finally in Sept 09. The reason for writing is to ask if there are any members living in BFG (british forces germany). I have a lovely specialist but all conversation has to go through a translator and there is no support team(nurses etc)so the feeling of isolation can be great at times. It would be really great to have somebody to talk to rather than running to the gp to ask qs or wait till my next appointment and take along an enormous list of qs.
I'm new to the forum and have lots of "trivial" questions to ask,some which are of a personal nature- any advise on where I might get some answers? thanks

Any questions you want to ask - just go ahead and post. There is nearly always someone who has the answer!

I'm Lorna I am married to Ken and have 3 grown up daughters, and have had RA for almost 3 years. Its under control now but was tough in the beginning. Ask as many questions as you wish about anything and everything there is always someone there with an answer. Take care Lorna x

I am 34 now, married with 3 children who are 15, 12 and 2.

everyone is friendly on here- just post away, there is everything on here from sex to managing to chop up veg someone will answer.

A warm welcome to the forum where you will find loads of useful information on all sorts of topics (serious and the downright hilarious!) and make lots of new friends. Sorry to hear that you have RA which must be even more difficult when there is a language barrier to contend with. NRAS may be able to put you in touch by phone with someone in similar circumstances but failing that perhaps you could communicate with another NRAS member by email. I'm sure there must be ways round things! Do keep posting on here though, it's always good to keep in touch

I'm Lyn, married to Mike and have four 'growing up' children aged 22,17,17 and 15. We live in Thornton Cleveleys in Lancashire. I was diagnosed with sero-negative RA 22 years ago after the birth of our daughter. I have run the gamut of medication and had several surgical procedures along the way. Currently on Enbrel, Naproxen and Prednisolone and a few other bits to keep things ticking over!

What medication are you on Sheila? Do keep firing away any questions ... there's always someone around who can try to help!

Hi Sheila from another Sheila, my RA also started at about the same age as you, yes its a bummer but this forum is brilliant. Sorry though that I'm not in Germany. No questions are trivial on this forum and I've found there are loads of such kind folk willing to answer and help, so just ask away. It will also be interesting to see how RA is treated in another county. Here's hoping you are well at the moment and hope to speak again.

I live in Kent but since being diagnosed 7 weeks ago the people on this forum are the only people I have really spoken to about RA and understand what I am going through in the early stages, please don't be afraid to ask any questions someone on here will be able to help you.

I am Anne 50 years old married with two teenage boys, a foster carer and work in a special needs school for a couple of hours each day.

No question is to trival if you are worried about it.
